Training of KRPs in Career Counselling and Guidance for School Going Children at Secondary Level at RIE, Ajmer

   
 
   

        A five-day training programme had been conceptualized and planned to train teachers in career counselling and guidance which was attended by 20 participants belonging to the states of Rajasthan and Uttarakhand from 13th December to 17th December, 2010. This training was imparted by Dr. L. V. Reddy, (senior research officer Occupational Research, CIRTES), Dr. B. S. Raizada (Retd. NCERT personnel from the field of Guidance), and Mr. Prashant K. Yadav headed by Prof. K. B. Rath (Principal R. I. E., Ajmer). During the span of five days, the participants were familiarised with concepts of career guidance and counselling, and their importance in the present school scenario. Information regarding role of psychological assessment, qualities of a career counsellor and skills required for a successful career counselling process was imparted followed by reflection on the part of participants about the effectiveness of the same. Career Information, its sources, classification and filing, and its dissemination through various guidance methods were imparted and required techniques were actively taught. The programme was successfully completed with all the participants effectively sensitized to the requirement of implementing career counselling services and guidance program in school situation.
