Message From Principal ...

Information is not only converted to knowledge but also becomes an important source for wisdom. Due to advancement of ICT the sources of knowledge have increased to a great extent. I am proud of my colleagues who inspired me to use such technology to spread the Institutional news to everybody. With the help of my esteemed colleagues, Dr. Anand Arya, Dr. Saryug Yadav, Dr. Ram Niwas, Mr. Guman Singh and JPF Shri Surya Narayan Sethi, our Institute has published the e-news letter for wider circulation on the eve of Golden Jubilee year of NCERT. We are trying to update the newsletter with all current news from college and school section. I appreciate the efforts of all my colleagues (both academic and non-academic) and students to participate wholeheartedly for Institutional development. We will appreciate the suggestion for improvement of this e-news letter.

Annual Day Celebrated 

The Institute celebrated its Annual Day with great fervor and enthusiasm in the assembly hall on March 02, 2012. The chief guest Prof. H.C. Jain, Ex Principal, RIE, Ajmer inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp. The programme began with an invocation to Goddess Saraswati, a dance performed by the students of B.Sc.-B.Ed. Prof. K.B. Rath, Principal welcomed the chief guest and other dignitaries present in the assembly hall. He presented a report on the list of activities of the institute conducted during the academic session 2011-2012. Prof. Rath appreciated the institute academic achievements and also announced that KVS and other prestigious organizations are interested to recruit RIE, Ajmer students in their organization. Dr. S. V. Sharma, Chief students’ advisor presented the annual report of the institute for the academic session 2011-12. The prizes were distributed to the winners of various inter house co-curricular activities organized as per Institute academic calendar during the session 2011-12. On this occasion beautiful cultural programmes such as solo song and dance, group dance and song and instrumental music were preformed by the students of the institute. Prof. J. P. Bagchi, Dean of Instruction, proposed a vote of thanks to the chief guest and audience at the end. (See More Photos)

  National Education Day Celebrated

To mark the birth anniversary of the first education minister, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad the National Education Day was celebrated in the Assembly Hall of the Institute on November 11, 2011. Prof. J. K. Sood was the chief guest at the function.  In his inaugural address, Prof. Sood emphasized upon education for all, new challenges & opportunities in education, importance of education in raising the standard of life and implications of ICT in connecting all to education. He also highlighted the credits of Maulana Azad with innovative measures in the field of education. On this occasion Prof. K. B. Rath, Principal of the institute, highlighted the important role played by Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad in the freedom struggle as well his contribution to the education in India. All heads of departments (Dr. Rajesh Mishra, Dr. Nagendra Singh, Dr. S.K. Paradkar and Dr. I.B. Chughtai), students and staff of the Institute graced the occasion by their presence.  Dr. S.V. Sharma proposed the vote of thanks and coordinated the programme.

 NCERT Annual Staff Tournament

The 27th NCERT Annual Staff Tournament was organized in the regional institute of education, Ajmer from December 26-30, 2011. The constituent units of NCERT participated in the tournament. Shri Alok Verma, Secretary, NCERT, New Delhi was the chief guest and inaugurated the tournament by lighting the lamp. Speaking on the occasion he said that sports are necessary for the development of physical and neuromuscular skills and also for the promotion of the spirit of cooperation. Prof. K. B. Rath, Principal of the institute welcomed the chief guest, team managers and all players. Dr. Nagendra Singh was the chairman of organizing committee and Shri Ishwarlal was organizing secretary. In the valedictory function, held on the Dec 30, 2011 Shri P. Ramakrishna, Ex. Reader Physical Education, RIE, Ajmer gave away the prizes to the winners. Overall championship was bagged by RIE, Bhubaneswar and CIET won second position in the tournament (See More Photos)

 Nurturance Programme for NTS Awardees

The nurturance programme for NTS awardees was organized in RIE, Ajmer in two phases. The first phase of the programme was held from January 30- February 03, 2012 while second phase of the programme was organized from February 06-10, 2012. The 53 NTS awardees attended the programme. During the programme different sessions were held for personality development, project work, practice sessions, and for preparation of concept maps activities on different topics. During each session the awardees were encouraged to participate through interaction and discussion. Besides academic programme various cultural activities, camp fire and a visit to Tilonia & Mayo College were also arranged. Dr. S.V. Students’ Activities                                                          

Working with Community

The working with community programme for B.Ed. I Year (Secondary) students was organized from February 15-24, 2012 under the co-ordination of Mrs. Meenakshi Meena, Assistant Professor (DE). The students of B.Ed. I Year (secondary), as a part of their pre-service training, were taken to the various nearby villages to have the first hand experience to work with the community. During the ten days programme students visited nearby villages to provide general awareness among villagers about “right to education” and the state & centre government sponsored scheme for education, & also organized rallies on “Jan Jagrukta Abhiyan”. The students also organized door to door campaign to make the villagers aware about the importance of education in their life and also acquainted them with the prevailing social evils and adopt the remedial measures. The students prepared a brief report on the achievement of the objectives of the programme. Shri Muzamil Hasan, Shri Atul Dubey, Shri Akhil Ray, Shri S. Mohanti, Mrs. Anushmita, Mrs. Bhawna Gaur, Dr. Rakesh Tomar and Shri Manoj Sharma were the resource person of the programme.

RIE Annual Sports & Athletics Meet 2011-2012

Annual Sports and Athletics Meet for the session 2011-12 was organized on December 12 & 16, 2011. Inter house competitions in different games, sports and athletic events were organized under the under the guidance of chairman of Games and Sports activity committee Dr. Nagendra Singh. During the meet the students participated enthusiastically in various games like football, volleyball, basketball, table tennis and badminton etc. Various athletics events for boys and girls including 100mts. 200mts races, shot-put, long jump and high jump were also organized. In the valedictory cum prize distribution ceremony function Prof. K.B. Rath, Principal encouraged the participants for their participation in healthy spirit of games. Dr. Nagendra Singh Proposed vote of thanks and appreciated the various committee members’ efforts in conducting the successful meet. Shri K. C. Meena and Shri Atul Dubey coordinated the annual Sports and athletics meet.

Inter House Literary & Cultural Competitions

In order to promote creative and constructive atmosphere inter house literary and cultural activities were organized for the students of all the four houses under the guidance of Dr. Rajesh Mishra and Dr. I.B. Chugtai and their team members. Inter house competitions for literary activities including essay and debate competitions in Hindi, English and Urdu was held on December 01, 2011. Various cultural events including Solo Song, Solo Dance, Group Song, Group Dance, Skit, Instrumental Music, and Mono-acting besides competitions in Rangoli, Salad, Flower Decoration, Drawing and Painting were held in a very cordial manner on 2nd and 5th December 2011. In addition to this a Students Focus Group was also constituted from different existing pre service courses with an aim to ensure active participation in curricular and co-curricular activities and create a stress free and healthy academic environment on the campus.

Educational Tour of B.Sc. B.Ed. IV students to RIE Mysore

 

As a part of curriculum RIE, Ajmer arranged a 15 days educational and cultural tour for B.Sc.-B.Ed. IV Year students from Dec 25, 2011 to Jan 08, 2012. The trip included visit to RIE, Mysore in order to know their functioning and to exchange views with students. Besides this, students also visited Indian Institute of Science, Banglore, lalbag botanical garden Banglore, Iskcon temple, Banglore, Bandipur wildlife sanctuary madu malai sanctuary, ooty botanical garden, ooty lake, tea farming in ooty, Mysore Zoo, Mysore palace, Krishnaraf sagar dam (Vairdavan garden), Chamuneshwari temple, Mysore, Rajiv Gandhi National park, Mysore, Buddha temple Mysore and coffee farming. The tour enhanced the knowledge of students on geographical and cultural diversity of India. The tour was escorted by Dr. V. P. Arya and Shri O. P. Meena. (See More Photos) 

Academic Achievements 2011-2012

  • Ms. Anjali Bala B.Sc.-B.Ed. IV Year has been awarded Bhabha Prize for obtaining the highest percentage of marks in the Institute.
  • Ms. Vandana B.Ed. II Year has been awarded Gopal Krishna Gokhale Prize for obtaining the highest percentage of marks in the institute.
  • Ms. Jyoti Sherawat, has been awarded Dr. Zakir Hussain Prize for obtaining highest percentage marks in M.Ed. (Elementary).
  • Chandranath Bhattacharya Memorial Trophy for best debater has been awarded to Ms Sonam B.Sc.-B.Ed. II Year of Vivekananda house.
  • Ms Komal, B.Sc.-B.Ed. IV Year, of Vivekananda house has been declared as the best athlete in women section and Mr. Vijay Kumar, B.Sc., B.Ed. III Year, of Vivekananda house as the best athlete in Men section.
  • Mr. Shantilal Chaudhary B.Sc.-B.Ed. III Year has been declared as best NCC cadet.
  • The prize for best NSS volunteer has been given to Ms Nidhi Mishra (women section) and Mr. Hemraj Sharma (Men section).
  • The prize for the best player of the year has been awarded to Mr. Sunil Kumar Kushwaha, B.Sc.-B.Ed. III Year, for his outstanding performance in all India Inter University tournaments 2011-12 and for representing MDSU Badminton team.
  • The overall championship Trophy for best performance in Literary, Cultural and Sports Activities for the session 2011-12 has been awarded to vivekananda house.

Inter University Tournament

  • Mr Sunil Kumar Kushwaha of B.Sc., B.Ed. III year selected in the MDS University, Badminton team and represented the University in west zone Inter University Tournament held at Udaipur from January 10-17, 2012.
  • Women badminton team of RIE, Ajmer, Ms Sapana Yadav, Ms Kanchan Jha, Ms Prerna and Ms Sonam, secured Runners up position in the inter college Tournament held at DAV College Ajmer.

Orientation programme for Minority-run- Schools/ Institutions on Quality Related Issues with Special reference to Science Education

An orientation programme for the managers, principals and teachers of minority-run-schools/ institutions on quality related issues with special reference to science education for the states of Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh was organized from January 9-11, 2012 at RIE, Ajmer. During the programme the participants were oriented on hard spots/concepts of science, critical pedagogy, laboratory work and ICT integration in teaching of science, and accordingly need based teaching learning material (TLM) was also developed. During valedictory address Principal Prof. K.B. Rath gave a message to the participants that they apply the experiences gained from the programme in the classroom situation and can conduct research work at their respective places. The programme was attended by 37 teacher of Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh state. Dr S. K. Paradkar, Dr I.B. Chugtai, Dr. Rajesh Mishra and Dr S. V. Sharma worked as IRPs in the programme. Training on Content cum pedagogy enrichment in Physics

A PAC approved programme entitled content cum pedagogy enrichment programme in physics for senior secondary level for the state of Himachal Pradesh and J. K. was organized from December 19-23, 2011 at RIE Ajmer. The training programme was attended by twenty five key resource persons belonging to DIETs/SCERTs and school teachers of Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir state. During the five days training programme the participants were exposed to content analysis of classes XI and XII textbooks of Physics developed by NCERT and on teaching, experiments conduction and designing projects in physics in the light of NCF 2005. A discussion on pedagogy, project designing and ICT integration & use of web quests in teaching of Physics was also be held during the programme. Each group of KRPs encouraged to develop a physics projects for better understanding and strengthening of concepts of Physics during laboratory, practice and group work sessions. Dr. H. C. Orientation programme on teaching strategies in Science: classroom processes and NCF 2005 at Secondary Level

A five day orientation cum training programme titled “Orientation cum training of KRPs, in NCF 2005 and classroom processes, teaching strategies in Science at secondary level for the states of Rajasthan, Uttarakhand and Haryana” was held during December 19-23, 2011 at RIE Ajmer. The twenty seven participants attended the training. During the span of five days, the major topics discussed deliberately includes new and innovative strategies of transacting the content of Science following NCF-2005 concerns, design and develop activities/experiments for teaching concepts of Science, pedagogy & recent advances related to content of Science at secondary level. During the five days lectures on various topics were delivered by the eminent subject experts Prof. K.B. Rath, Prof. H. C. Jain, Dr. K. K. Sharma, Dr. S. K. Paradkar, Dr. P.C. Agarwal, Dr. I. B. Chugtai, Dr. B. Barthkur, Dr. S. V. Sharma, Dr. A. K. Arya, Dr. A. K. Nainawat and Dr. Rana Pratap. Dr. Rana Pratap, Assistant Professor Physics was the coordinator of the programme.

Orientation of teachers of minority institutions on improving quality in education through action research

The programme entitled "Orientation of Principals and Teachers of Minority-run-Institutions on improving Quality in Education through Action Research" was organized from 12 to 14 March 2012 at RIE, Ajmer. The training programme was attended by a total number of 17 participants. The participants represented teachers from minority groups and minority institutions, teacher educators having a rich experience and expertise and the institute faculty. The resource persons from inside and out side of the institute discussed in detail about various aspects related to quality in education, action research, how school based action research can be undertaken by a group of teachers for the purpose of helping them to improve their classroom practices and to find out solutions of their class room problems (scholastic/co-scholastic) and about the types, procedures, steps, strategies and conduct of action research. The resource persons shared with the participants Illustrative examples of action research related to behavioral problems, Languages, Mathematics, Science, Social Science and other non-cognitive areas. These exemplars and other related materials were prepared in a two days workshop held from 28-29 November, 2011 at RIE, Ajmer. The participants were further asked to identify the areas on which AR is needed and requested to give suggestions for the improvement of the exemplars shared. The clarifications sought by the participants were discussed in group and necessary suggestions were given. The major inputs on the topics discussed were provided by Prof. K.B. Rath, Dr. I.B. Training of KRPs for promoting Education of Learners with Special Educational Needs at Elementary, Secondary and Sr. Secondary Stages

PAC approved programme titled, 'Training of KRPs for promoting Education of Learners with Special Educational Needs at Elementary, Secondary and Sr. Secondary stages for the states of Punjab and HP was organized from 08-10 December 2011 at RIE Ajmer. The training programme was attended by a total number of 10 participants from the state of HP only. Fifteen participants were invited from Punjab state butt there was no participation from there. Through this PAC approved programme an attempt was made to orient and train the KRPs of Himachal Pradesh state for promoting education of learners with special educational needs at elementary, secondary and Sr. Secondary stages so that they can modify their existing in-service and pre-service teacher education programmes in the light of inclusive education and further prepare the regular teachers for different stages in schools. Teachers Educators of DIETs and teachers from different schools of HP constituted the group of KRPs. Lecture-cum-discussion, demonstration, observation, group work, sharing of experiences, active learning, and participatory/collaborative approaches were emphasized for conduction the programme and transacting the materials. The resource persons from within the institute and outside discussed  in detail about various aspects related to nature and needs of the learners with special educational needs (LWSENs) and approaches/ strategies required to educate them in inclusive settings. Some of the key issues discussed during the training programme were as follows:

            -           New thinking emerged in the education of learners with SENs.
            -           Basic nature and needs of learners (at Elementary, Secondary and Sr. Secondary stages)
            -           NCF-2005, IEDSS-2009, RTE act-2009 and education of learners with SENs.
            -           Measures required to the taken in inclusive settings for learners with SENs
            -           Major approaches/ strategies required to be used the Inclusive settings.

            The inputs on the above topics were provided by Dr. I.B. Chughtai, Dr. K.B.Rath, Principal, RIE, Ajmer, Dr. T.V. Somashekar, (RIE Mysore), Dr. Rajesh Mishra, Head DESSH, RIE, Ajmer, Ms. Sharmila, Department of Education, RIE, Ajmer. The participants during the programme raised and discussed issues and problems related to education of LWSENs in their respective areas. Participants' observatories and interaction during the sessions clearly showed great appreciation for the rich and varied inputs provided to them on this very important topic. The participants were provided a copy of CD having related materials.

Paper Published

Dr. Saryug Yadav, Associate Professor of English, published a paper Using ICT in English Language Education: Excellences and Limitations in Information and Communication Technology in ELT:  edited by A. K.  Saini  Germany: LAP  Academic Publishing GmbH & KG, 2012.

Dr. Anand Arya, Assistant Professor in Chemistry published a research paper titled “An efficient and facile synthesis of Zn(II) complexes with 2-substituted benzothiazoles and glycine and alanine-based ligands having antifungal and antibacterial activities” in the International Journal  “Research on Chemical Intermediates” (Springer) DOI 10.1007/s11164-012-0578-x. In his research findings he carried out an efficient and facile synthesis of Zn(II) complexes with heterocyclic ligands based on 2-substituted benzothiazole moieties and amino acids are reported and also examined the synthesized complexes for antifungal and antibacterial activities.

Sh. Albert Horo, Assistant Professor (Geography), of the Institute has published a paper (Co-author) entitled “Disaster Risk Reduction through Geography Education in India”, Pakistan Journal of Geography, Vol. XX No. 1&2, 2010, Pages: 19-33. (ISSN No. 1023-5108) LCCN/94-930500. Sh. Albert Horo, also published a paper entitled “Environment Awareness through Geography in Schools”, in V.K. Kumara et.al. (ed.), Strategic Management of Environment for Sustainable Development, Shree Publishers & Distributors, New Delhi 2011. (ISBN No. 978-81-8329-397-6).

Shri Ved Prakash Arya, Assistant Professor, Physics has published a research article in an International Journal “Journal of Physics: Condensed Matter”. His article entitled “Effect of magnetic ?eld on Mott’s variable-range hopping parameters in multiwall carbon nanotube mat” describes charge transport in the localization regime for a novel carbon nanotube system. The effect of magnetic ?eld on the localization of states is discussed thoroughly and a useful insight regarding various relevant physical parameters is provided.

Dr S. V Sharma published a research paper entitled “Development of Values through Science Activities” in New Frontiers in Education, 2011, 44, 394-401. In his study conducted on KRPs of DIETs of Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan States during a five day training programme held at Regional Institute of Education, Ajmer, the five activities related to reflection of light, refraction of light, dispersion of light and arrangement of two convex lenses as microscope and telescope were performed and viewed as inculcation of values among learners through activities of science conducted scientifically.

Conference Attended

Dr. I.B. Chughtai, Associate Prof. Department of Education attended two days NATIONL CONSULTATION ON CONTINUOUS COMPREHENSIVE EVALUATION from 18-19 January, 2012 organized by SIERT, at Hotel Inter Residency, Udaipur. The purpose of the consultation was to develop understanding on CCE, how it has been introduced in schools, orientation of parents, the policy level changes made to introduce CCE, scaling up process, capacity development plans etc. At the two day consultation, the participants from NCERT, UNICEF, CBSE, SCERT, Chattisgarh; SCERT MP: SPO UP; SCERT Maharashtra; SCERT, Gujarat; SCERT/SPO Kerala: Rishi Valley: Kendriya Vidyalaya: St. Pauls School: Navodaya Vidyalaya, and Ms. Veenu Gupta, Commissioner RCEE, Dr. Avtar Singh, Head, DEME, NCERT; Dr. Sharda Jain, Director Samadhan; shared their experiences. The presentations and discussion were focused on the: Assessment system, Academic support structure, role of SIERT/SCERT and DIET in introduction of CCE, Training manuals, formals etc.

Dr. Saryug Yadav acted as key speaker in a National Symposium on Interrogating New Worlds of English Language Teaching held on 24 & 25 February 2012 which was jointly organized by ELTI Bikaner and Department of English, MGS University, Bikaner and he also presented a paper entitled Effective Teaching of English: Contexts and Concerns.

Sh. Albert Horo, Assistant Professor (Geography), of the Institute has presented a paper entitled “Strategies in Teaching Geography of Schools in India” in 33rd Indian Geography Congress having Focal Theme Resources and Development from November 11-13, 2011 at Department of Geography, University of Burdwan, Barddhaman (WB). In his research paper the concept oriented teaching strategies were discussed and some learning modules of Geography at secondary level were developed based on these strategies. The paper will be published in the Proceedings of the 33rd Indian Geography Congress.

Dr. Anand Arya, Assistant Professor in Chemistry and Dr R. B. Pareek, Assistant Professor in Chemistry presented their research papers in International Conference (Post ISCBC-2012) on “Perspective and challenges in Chemical and Biological Sciences: Innovation Crossroads” Organized by Institute of Advanced Study in Science & Technology (IASST), Guwahati during Jan 28-30, 2012. Dr. Arya presented his research paper titled “A Domino protocol for the synthesis of structurally diverse Heterocycles with medicinally privileged heterosystems. Dr Pareek also presented his research finding titled “Anti-microbial activity of the constituents of Hygrophila auriculata (K.Schum) Heine” during the three days conference.
