Message From Principal ...

Information not only converted to knowledge but also becomes an important source for wisdom. Due to advancement of ICT the sources of knowledge increased to a great extent. I am proud of my colleagues who inspired me to use such technology to spread the Institutional news to every body. With the help of my esteemed colleagues, Dr. Anand Arya, Dr. Saryug Yadav, Dr. Ram Niwas, Mr. Guman Singh and JPF Shri Surya Narayan Sethi, our Institute has published the first e-news letter for wider circulation on the eve of Golden Jubilee year of NCERT. We are trying to update the news letter with all current news from college and school section. I appreciate the efforts of all my colleagues (both academic and non-academic) and students to participate whole heartedly for Institutional development. We will appreciate the suggestion for improvement of this e-news letter.

Golden Jubilee Celebrations of NCERT 

 

         The   National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) is celebrating its Golden Jubilee in 2010-11 year. The golden jubilee year celebration at RIE, Ajmer, was inaugurated on 1st September 2010 with a very high note. Prof. Amrit Kaur was the chief guest and Prof. V. G. Jadhao presided over the inaugural function. Prof. K. B. Rath presented the list of activities going to be held in the golden jubilee year.  On this occasion former employees of RIE, Ajmer shared their experiences and were honored by giving away mementos.  Dr Rajesh Mishra was the Chairman and Dr S.V. Sharma acted as the organizing Secretary of the programme.                                                                 (See More Photos)

 

4th Marjorie Sykes Memorial Lecture organized

 

In continuation of the Marjorie Sykes Memorial Lecture series, the lecture-IV was delivered by Shri Ashok Vajpeyi, an eminent Hindi poet, critic and culture-activist, in the Assembly Hall of the Institute on August 23, 2010. Shri Vajpeyi while speaking on the topic “Why literature?” emphasized that in  this age of machine and consumerism when most of the people are busy in increasing material achievements, only literature can illumine and guide  the human beings and lead them on the path of cultural and spiritual prosperity. Dr. Rajesh Mishra, Head, DESSH, in his presidential address stated that it is a good sign that young  people are showing their keen interest in reading literature, which will ultimately strengthen the literary sensibility of the society as a whole. Dr S.V. Sharma, Assistant Professor of Physics, coordinated the programme. The lecture was attended by all students, staff of institute and faculty members of local colleges and university. The function ended with a vote of thanks by Professor Shakuntala Nagpal, Head, DTEE, NCERT, New Delhi .                                                    (See More Photos)

 

 Republic Day Celebration

 

 

The 62ndRepublic Day was celebrated with patriotic zest and pleasure on 26th January, 2011 in the institute play ground. Prof. K. B. Rath hoisted the national flag and addressed the gathering. Prof. Rath also inspected the march past and took the salute. As a part of the celebration, Prof. K. B. Rath gave away the appreciation certificate to four employees of the institute for their excellent service namely, Shri Vishambhar Das (UDC), Shri Nand Kishor Tak (UDC), Shri Bhupendra Singh (Class D) and Shri Kanhiya Lal (Security Guard). The festival was attended by the students, faculty and staff of the institute, and their families. The students of the institute including DM School performed march past followed by cultural programmes, including patriotic songs and dance.  (See More Photos)

 Training programme on Teaching of English at Elementary Level

 

A 5-day training of KRPs in teaching of English at Elementary level was organized from 8-12 November, 2010 at RIE (NCERT) Ajmer in which 35 teachers and teacher educators from J&K, Punjab and Rajasthan participated. The programme was coordinated by Dr. Saryug Yadav, Associate Professor of English, DESSH, RIE, Ajmer. While addressing the participants Prof. K.B. Rath, Principal, Regional Institute of Education, Ajmer , stated that English is the language of survival and it is very difficult to ignore the importance of English in the age of liberalization, privatization and globalization. On this occasion Dr. Ram Niwas (RP) said that English assumes a special importance in the entire scheme of school education and language should be taught through literature in order to make the teaching –learning process meaningful and effective. Dr. Saryug Yadav, Programme Coordinator, highlighted the major aims and objectives of the programme and said that English is a living and breathing language which requires a different sort of orientation and sympathetic handling by English teachers across the country. Dr. Nagendra Singh, Head, DEE, while expreesing his views reiterated that English is the language of social mobility and a passport to good jobs. During the five days training the eminent subject experts who acted as resource persons were: Prof. Sheela Upadhayay( Former Head, Dept. of English, Govt. College, Ajmer), Dr. A.K. Paliwal, Assistant Professor of English,Vidya Bhawan College of Teachers, Udaipur; Dr.Vijay Dutta, Assistant Professor of English, Mayo College, Ajmer, and Dr. Ram Niwas Associate Professor of English, Kurukshetra University, Haryana . The major topics discussed and deliberated include NCF 2005 and English Language Education, Teaching Language through Literature, Listening, Speaking, Reading, Writing, Vocabulary, Using a Dictionary, Constructivism and English Language Education, Communicative Approach to ELT, Assessment in English Language, Phonetic Symbols, Stress, Intonation, Language games, innovative Practices, Teaching Poetry, Teaching Language through Drama and Short Stories. The training came to its end with a valedictory session in which the participants expressed their opinions and said that they were benefited immensely from this training and it will make a considerable change in their professional expertise. Career Counseling and Guidance for School Going Children at Secondary Level

 

A programme was organized from 13-17 December, 2010 at RIE, Ajmer to (i) enable the key personnel in concepts of career guidance and counseling, and their importance in the present school scenario, (ii) impart them with the information regarding role of psychological assessment, qualities of a career counselor and skills required for a successful career counseling process followed by reflection on the part of participants about the effectiveness of the same. The twenty participants from the states of Rajasthan and Uttarakhand attended the programme. The training was imparted by Dr. L. V. Reddy, (senior research officer Occupational Research, CIRTES), Dr. B. S. Raizada (Retd. NCERT personnel from the field of Guidance), Mr. Prashant K. Yadav and headed byProf. K. B. Rath (Principal, RIE, Ajmer ). During the span of five days, they were actively taught career information, its sources, classification and filing, and its dissemination through various guidance methods. The programme was successfully completed with all the participants effectively sensitized to the requirement of implementing career counseling services and guidance program in school situation. Project based learning at secondary level

 

A five day training programme on project based learning at secondary level for the states of Himachal Pradesh was organized from 20-24 September, 2010 at RIE, Ajmer. The training comprises individual work, group work, group discussion, lectures, demonstration, field work and reflective practices to find out solutions of the questions related to project based learning (PBL) such as what is PBL? How PBL will be implemented in different discipline at secondary level? How to prepare & present PBL? Lastly the queries relate to the time management and assessments of PBL in school? Dr. Rasmirekha Setty, assistant professor, was the coordinator of the programme.

 

Orientation Programme in Teaching of Science at Elementary level.

 

A five day activity based training programme in teaching of science at elementary level for the states of Jammu and Kashmir was organized from 20-25 Dec, 2010 at RIE, Ajmer. The training programme was attended by eighteen key resource persons belonging to DIETs/SCERTs and school teachers of Jammu & Kashmir state. During five day training they were exposed to different newly introduced topics with activity based teaching with reference to NCF-2005 along with lab sessions. Dr. Rana Pratap, assistant professor, was the coordinator of the programme.

 

Use of ICT in teaching of Science

 

Training of KRPs in the use of ICT in teaching of science at elementary level for the states of H.P., Punjab & Chandigarh held at RIE Ajmer in two phases. First phase of the training was held at RIE Ajmer from 18-21 October, 2010 and was exclusively for the state of Himachal Pradesh. The second phase of the programme was organized at RIE Ajmer from 22-26 November, 2010. During the five days, programme coordinator Dr. S. K. Paradkar, acquainted them in using ICT at elementary level, use of multimedia DVD, Internet resources (Web Links) related to teaching activity based science teaching was discussed at length. Web quest which is an inquiry based learning, using appropriate sites discussed and practical hands on experiences were shared, browsed by the KRPs. They were also exposed to use team viewer to share the information & communicate with other computers net connected. (See More Photos)

 

Inclusive Education of Children with Special Educational Needs

 

A five-day training programme was organized on inclusive education of children with special educational needs at elementary level, at RIE, Ajmer from 6-9, December, 2010. The thirteen KRPs, including teachers and teacher educators, from DIETs and SIERT of Rajasthan state attended the programme. The training was mainly emphasized  on aspects related to needs of the learners, children with special educational needs (CWSENs) and approaches/strategies, assessment and evaluation for Inclusive schools. Leaded by the programme coordinator Dr. I. B. Chughtai, the participants were involved in group work and discussion in which they raised and discussed issues and problems related to education of CWSENs in their respective areas. They were exposed to different areas of inclusive education, such as new thinking emerged in the education of CWSENs, NCF-2005 and inclusive education, concrete measures required to be taken in inclusive schools, various approaches/strategies required in inclusive schools, assessment, & evaluation in inclusive settings, guidance and counseling and emotional intelligence and various aids and appliances used by CWSENs in inclusive schools by Prof. K.B. Rath, Principal, RIE Ajmer, Dr. I. B. Chughtai, Ms. Sharmila and Dr. T.V. Somashekar, (RIE, Mysore) as resource persons. (See More Photos)

 

 Effective management of School Education libraries

 

The five days training programme was organized at Central Building Research Institute (CBRI), Roorkee from 25-29 October, 2010. Eighteen librarians / in-charge librarians of SCERT / DIETs & other Institutions of school education from the state of Uttarakhand were attended the training. Shri B. K. Jha, liberian, RIE, Ajmer was the coordinator of the programme.

 

Training on Library Automation for Institutions of School Educations

 

The programme was conducted in a phased manner in for Himachal Pradesh and Jammu respectively. In the first phase, 5 days training programme was organized from 13–17 September, 2010 at Himachal Institute of Public Administration (HIPA), Shimla. Seventeen librarians from Himachal attended the programme. The second phase of the training was organized from 29th November to 4th December, 2010 at SIE Jammu. Twenty one librarians from SIE, DIETs and government schools of Jammu region attended the training programme. The programme was coordinated by Shri B. K. Jha, liberian, RIE, Ajmer , RIE, Ajmer .

 
 

 Use of Microscale Chemistry Kit in Chemistry Practical’s

 

To enable the use of Microscale chemistry kit for the senior secondary teachers and teacher educators of Himachal Pradesh and to impart them the training in chemistry practical providing environmentally safe pollution preventing method with Microscale chemistry kit developed by workshop department, NCERT a training programme was organized from 18-22 October, 2010 at RIE, Ajmer. Prof. M. M. Salunkhe, Vice Chancellor, Central University of Rajasthan, delivered an inaugural lecture on recent advances in the use of Microscale experiments at senior secondary level. Dr. Sukhvir Singh, Dr A. K. Nainawat, Dr. Anand Kumar Arya, Dr. Pramila Tanwar, Mrs Preeti Tayal were the resource person of the programme. The Programme was coordinated by Dr. Ram Babu Pareek.

 
 

 Training programme on Teaching of Science

 

A training programme for the 36 teachers and teacher educators from Punjab, Chandigarh and J&K was held in RIE, Ajmer from 25–29 October, 2010. The objective of the programme was to train the participants in teaching of science at secondary level. Dr. A.K. Nainawat, assistant professor in chemistry was coordinated the programme. During the five days lectures on various topics were delivered by the eminent subject experts, Prof. V.G. Jadhao, Prof. K.K. Sharma, Prof. MDS University, Ajmer, Dr. Sukhvir Singh, Dr. S.K. Paradkar, Dr. B. Barthakur, Dr. R.B. Pareek, Dr. A.K. Arya, Dr. Pramila Tanwar, Dr. P.C. Sharma, Sh. J.P. Narayan, Dr. S.V. Sharma and Sh. V.P. Arya. The major topics discussed deliberated include importance of logical thinking & experimentation in teaching of Science and NCF–2005. The use of ICT in the development of teaching and understanding of topics of science, which are considered as hard spots, were also discussed. The approach was highly participating and most of the participants took very keen interest in practical session and activities being assigned to them from time to time.

 

Research                                                                   

 

 

The Department of School Education & Literacy, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, has entrusted the responsibility to conduct a national level research study regarding Impact of trainings under SSA. In view of this Dr. Ram Babu Pareek, Assistant Professor in Chemistry has been assigned the responsibility of state Coordinator under  MHRD Research project as a part of national level Research study entitled “Study of Impact of In-service Teacher’s Training under SSA on Class room Transactions” for Rajasthan state.

 

 

Dr. Saryug Yadav, Associate Professor of English, DESSH, was assigned the responsibility to act as coordinator of J&K in an MHRD Project entitled “A Study of English Language Teaching in India at Primary Level” being undertaken by Department of Languages, NCERT New Delhi in 2010-11. Dr. Yadav also contributed in the development of the research tools being employed for data collection and classroom observation under this national project. Dr Ayushman Goswami, Assistant Professor, DE, was also associated with this project as a team member in data collection and preparation of the report. The state report of the project has already been completed and sent to NCERT, New Delhi for onward transmission to MHRD, Government of India.

 

 

A research project  entitled A Study of the Impact of Medium of Instruction on Conceptual Understanding of Subject Content at Primary Level in the Ajmer district of Rajasthan  being approved by PAC and ERIC, NCERT, New Delhi, was undertaken by a team of RIE Ajmer faculty including Dr. Saryug Yadav (Chief Investigator), Members-- Dr. Ram Niwas, Dr. S. V. Sharma, Dr. Albert Horo and  Dr. Rana Pratap. Research tools have already been finalized in a 3-day workshop being held in September 2010. 12 primary schools (6 Urban and 6 Rural) have been identified for classroom observation and data collection which is supposed to be completed by March 2011.

 

Students’ Activities                                                          

 

Pre-internship in Teaching for B.Ed. (Secondary) first year

 

 

The pre-internship in teaching for the students of B.Ed. Part-I commenced from 4 Jan 2011. The pre-internship programme was divided into two phases. During the first phase the students were provided training in different aspects of internship and core teaching skills such as, concept and objectives of pre-internship, content analysis, reflective practices, lesson planning, constructivism, ICT and pedagogy, skill of stimulus variation, use of teaching aids, graphic tools, skills of dealing with pupils response, NCF (2005) on pre-service teacher education, and demonstration of lesson plans of various streams. The students were also provided training in school based evaluation, in-depth study of cultural and literary activities, science laboratory, games and sports activities, library related activities and concept rational and preparation and use of TLMs. The skills of teaching were also practiced during this period by dividing them into peer groups, to practice teaching and reflective practices using skill of introducing a lesson, explaining, questioning, reinforcement, stimulus variation, and using black-board. During the second phase the trainees were placed in local cooperative schools of Ajmer for practicing activities in school from 21st January to 03rd Feburary, 2011. During this period trainees managed classes and delivered at least two lessons in each subject, and completed assignments given to them in the first phase. The programme were followed by the post- internship conference on 09 February 2011 during which the teaching aid exhibition was  organized and feedback was  also received from trainees and supervisors for further improvement of the internship programme.

 

Educational Tour of B.Sc. B.Ed. IV students to RIE Bhubaneswar :

 

Students of B.Sc. B.Ed. IV year visited RIE Bhubaneswar on educational tour escorted by Mr. Kamlesh Tayal and Mrs. Preeti Garg. Students reached RIE, Bhubaneswar on January 4, 2011 and visited botanical garden of institute, and studied about various flora and different species of flowers. They visited Nandan Kanan National Park and observed habit and habitat of various species of reptiles, amphibians, mammals and nocturnal animals. Students also visited Udaygiri and Khandgiri Caves, Lingraj Temple and studied their historical importance as well as structural specialties. On the second day of their educational they visited Dhauli, Sun Temple (Konark), Jagannath Puri Temple and Puri Sea Beach. On the third day students seen Chilka Lake and travelled nearly 26 KM to visit an island to study the flora and fauna of the local area. On the way to Chilka Lake, they also visited Peepli Village to observe the handicraft work of Orissa. On the fourth day they went to local market, Sri Ram Temple and Iscon Temple. Students learnt a lot about different cultures and traditions

 

RIE Mysore Students’ Visit to RIE Ajmer

 

 

On the way to educational tour RIE Mysore students visited RIE Ajmer in the 2nd week of December 2010. The visit was a great opportunity for students of both the institutes to exchange ideas and thoughts. There was a healthy interaction among students of RIE Ajmer and RIE Mysore. First of all, the Principal of RIE Ajmer Prof. K.B. Rath extended a very warm welcome all guest students and teachers. All students and faculty members introduced themselves to rest of the members of RIE family. Students from both the institutes shared their views and ideas about their curriculum, faculty, hostel facilities etc. The meeting ended with an invitation to students of RIE Ajmer by RIE Mysore students to visit their Institute.

 

RIE Annual Sports & Athletics Meet-2010-11

 

Annual Sports and Athletics Meet for the session 2010-11 was organized from 6-10 December 2010. Inter house competitions in different games, sports and athletic events were organized under the leadership of Shri K. C. Meena.  Shri Dhanraj Choudhary, secretary general of table/tennis association of India , inaugurated and chaired the Annual Athletic Meet. During these five days students participated enthusiastically in various games like volleyball, football, basketball, table tennis and badminton etc. Various athletics events for boys and girls including 100mts. 200mts races, shot-put, long jump and high jump were also organized. In the valedictory cum prize distribution ceremony function Prof. K.B. Rath, Principal gave away the prizes and encouraged the athletes for their participation in healthy spirit of games.                             (See More Photos)

 

All India Inter University Tournament/Glorious achievement

 

Ms. Sapna Yadav, B.Sc. B.Ed. III Year & Miss Kanchan Jha, B.Sc. B.Ed. 2nd Year represented MDS University, Ajmer in badminton for the all India tournament held at Indoor Stadium, Patel Stadium, Ajmer during 26-27 Nov. 2010 and  was awarded 2nd position in women doubles section at the Ajmer district level. Miss Pooja Soni of B.Sc. B.Ed. Ist Year &  Ms. Sapana Yadav of B.Sc. B.Ed IIIrd Year also represented the MDS University Ajmer at All India Inter University Tournament held at Jiwaji University, Gwalior from 20-28 December 2010.

Literary and cultural week

 

 

In order to promote creative and constructive atmosphere literary and cultural week was celebrated from 6-11 December 2010 for the students of demonstration multipurpose school. Dr. Indu Sharma was the coordinator the programme. The various cultural events at senior and junior level were organized including solo song, solo dance, instrumental music, fancy dress, and mono acting besides competition in rangoli, bulletin board competition, drawing and painting. During this period students participated in various literary activities such as Hindi poem recitation, story telling, quiz and debate competitions.

 

 

DMS Annual Athletics meet

 

 

The 45th annual athletics meet of Demonstration school was conducted on December 15, 2010 in the sports ground of the institute. Shri Ramchandra Chaudhary, President, Ajmer Dairy, was the chief guest. Various athletic events for boys and girls at primary, secondary and senior secondary levels including 100mts. 200mts, 400mts races, 4100 relay, long jump, high jump, Discus and Javelin throw were organized. In senior boys category Rajnish Meena (100 & 200mts), Jayant Shanani(400mts), Rajesh Rawat (long jump) and Vivek Uniyal (High Jump) were the declared winner while in junior boys category Ravindra (100mts), Monu(200mts), Mihir(400mts), Rishiraj(long jump) and Karan(High Jump) were among the winners. In senior girls category Manisha(400mts), Priya Tak(shot-put & long jump) and Anuj Kanwar (Discus throw) were declared winner while in junior girls category Sushma and Manish Meena won the respectively 100mts and 200mts title. The meet was organized under the leadership of Shri Ashvini Bhati and Shri Rajkapoor Ojha.

 

 

Hindi Exhibition

 

 

Hindi exhibition was organized in DM school on 19 August 2010 Under Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) in school systems. The students of the school presented charts and models on poems and stories of various Hindi writers and poets of all ages under the guidance of Mrs Sumitra Devi, Shri Akhilesh Sharma, Shri Guman Singh, and Seema Sahani. Priya Tak, Ananya, Himanshu, Mihir, Sheetal Mehra, Jayant, Aman, Abhineet, Ravi, Shilpa, Kirti and Harish of 10th class awarded for their distinguished constructive presentation.

 

 

State level Distinction

 

 

The DM school under the guidance of music teacher Ms. Sharda Devara, achieved the third position at the state level in National Group Song Competition being sponsored by Bharat Vikas Parishad and organized on 25.09.2010.
